Meet Vicks: The Makeup Artist

When people ask me how I became a makeup artist, I usually smile and say, “It started with a brush and a little curiosity.” For years, I practiced on myself, creating fun little looks on my eyelids just for the joy of it. But the real turning point came at a family wedding.

A loved one had their makeup done by another artist and didn’t feel beautiful in it. I stepped in, made adjustments with ease, and watched her face light up with relief and happiness. In that moment, I realized this wasn’t just about experimenting with colors anymore. It was about helping people feel confident, comfortable, and radiant. That’s when my journey as a full-fledged makeup artist truly began.

My Journey

I went on to train at Blanche Macdonald in Vancouver, one of Canada’s leading makeup schools, and since then I’ve been building my career as a professional artist. With over seven years of experience, I’ve worked on everything from wedding mornings to editorial shoots, fashion, film, and branding sessions.

Every experience has reinforced what I learned that day at the wedding: makeup is more than a look… it’s a feeling.

My Style & Philosophy

If I had to describe my approach in three words, it would be timeless, elevated, and personal.

I love soft, elegant glam with romantic finishes that photograph beautifully and feel natural in real life. My philosophy is simple: your makeup should enhance who you already are, not cover it up. I bring balance, a touch of drama where it’s wanted, subtlety where it matters most, and always that moment of confidence when you see yourself in the mirror and say, “Yes, that’s me.”

What I Love Most

  • Meeting brides on the most important morning of their lives.

  • Collaborating with talented photographers, hairstylists, and creatives.

  • Seeing someone’s posture shift the second they feel truly beautiful.

  • The quiet, meaningful conversations that happen while I’m blending, brushing, and perfecting details.

  • Playing with new luxury makeup products.

Beyond Makeup

Outside of artistry, I’m passionate about creating balance in my life. I spend time with my pug Louie, plan future travels with my husband Chase, and tend to my ever-growing plant collection (my Monstera Albo is basically part of the family).

This past year, I’ve also been navigating a Hashimoto’s diagnosis, which is an autoimmune thyroid condition that has shifted how I take care of myself. It’s taught me the importance of slowing down when needed, focusing on wellness, and giving myself permission to step back when my body asks for it.

That journey has shaped the way I approach my work, too. I’ve learned that beauty and well-being go hand in hand. The same way I want my clients to feel cared for, I’m learning to extend that same care to myself.

Why Glow with Vicks

For me, “Glow” is more than just how the skin looks. It’s the calm of a stress-free morning, the confidence of walking into a photoshoot feeling polished, and the joy of looking back at pictures and truly recognizing yourself.

That’s what I want every client to experience.

So whether you’re preparing for your wedding day, booking a special event, or simply exploring the world of makeup artistry, I’m so glad you’re here. This space is where I’ll share artistry, education, and inspiration, and hopefully give you a glimpse of what it means to glow.
