3 Things Every Bride Should Know Before Sitting in the Makeup Chair

Your wedding day is one of the most photographed (and emotional) days of your life. As a makeup artist, I believe your makeup should not only look beautiful in person but also photograph flawlessly - and most importantly, make you feel like the best version of yourself.

I’m Victoria - the makeup artist. With over six years of professional experience and training at Blanche Macdonald, I specialize in timeless bridal glam that enhances your features and lasts all day. Today, I want to share a few tips I always give my brides before their big day.

1. Prep Starts the Night Before

The best makeup application starts with healthy, hydrated skin. The night before your wedding:

  • Stick to products you already know your skin loves (this is not the time to try something new).

  • Make sure to remove all makeup and moisturize well.

  • Get as much rest as possible — your skin always shows how well you slept.

2. Build in Buffer Time

Wedding mornings are busy, and the smallest delays can add stress. I always recommend adding at least 30 extra minutes into your beauty timeline. This allows space for last-minute touch-ups, unexpected delays, or simply a few quiet moments to breathe before walking down the aisle.

3. Delegate the Details

I’ve seen brides running around setting up décor, organizing jewelry, or tracking down shoes — and unfortunately, it often shows in their makeup as stress and sweat. My advice? Assign these tasks to your bridal party or family. That way, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy being pampered while we take care of making you look flawless.

Final Thoughts

Your bridal makeup experience should feel calming, empowering, and fun. As your artist, my goal is to create a look that not only photographs beautifully but also feels like you.
